When we were on our trip this summer I found a boxed set of all the Little House on the Prairie books.  I loved these books and the show when I was young and I couldn't resist buying them for my girls.

So we read a chapter every night and it is my very favorite part of my day.  I love these book and I love snuggling up with my girls to read with them every night.  It's funny to me to see how much Mary and Laura are like my little girls. Tonight we finished the 2nd book and it's kind of a cliff hanger the girls are so excited to start the next book.  I really love to read and I hope my girls are leaning to love reading too.
What are you reading to your kids?

Good Reads?

I recently joined Good Reads, mainly because facebook told me to but I'm slightly embarrassed to post what book I'm reading. My friends all seem to be reading great biographies and very serious book, but my taste run along the lines of smut. That's right I love a good romance novel, the smutty er the better.
When I was young I read a lot. Then came came high school and all the forced reading and dissecting of every book really ruined my joy of reading. Then shortly after we moved into our house, my Dad came to stay with us, and shortly after that he fell and broke his femur. It was a very very hard time in my life. I was taking care of my dad and I spent a lot of time in waiting rooms so I started reading again. Reading was my escape and I was reading 5 or 6 books a week. It was such a stressful time of my life and books helped me to not dwell on all the hard things I was dealing with and instead escape to the world of my romance novel. I didn't want to read things that were serious or depressing. I've even had the chance to meet some of my favorite authors and chat with them, and they were all so nice.

I'm not completely opposed to reading more serious book, but when all is said and done I'd take a good Nora, or Rachel Gibson any day.
So if you are my friend on Good Reads, don't judge me for my taste in reading matterial, give one of them a try.

Weekends with the Queen

One of my favorite things to do is read. For many years I didn't read at all, then one day my Mother in law gave me a book to read and I think I had my head buried in a book for about two years straight. My favorite books to read are romance novels the cheesier and steamier the better. Now I know that the world, and Utah especially, has gone crazy for Twilight, but I have absolutely no desire in the world to read that book. I know it's weird, but it holds absolutely no appeal to me. I don't really get why grown women are so crazy for this book. Maybe it is because my loyalties lye with another. The Queen of Romance Nora Roberts. Nora has written 150+ books and I have read and own most of them. I've had the opportunity to meet her twice, the first was in NYC in 2001 and then in 2003 I traveled cross country to meet her again. Because of her I became friends with a really great group of ladies.

So this weekend (and the next 3) as all of you Twilight-ers wait in anticipation of the video release. I will be cozying up on my couch and torturing Jon by making him watch the first of 4 Lifetime movies based on Nora's books. First up Northern Lights.
